What is it?
It’s the permanent removal of annoying excess dark or fair hairs on the face, normally on the lip and chin, but eyebrows and the sides of the face can be a problem also!
How does it work?
Electrolysis is performed using heat introduced into the hair follicle by way of a very fine needle. It’s important to point out hat the needle doesn’t pierce the skin, it is placed into the follicle from
where the hair grows. When the heat is applied at the base of the hair follicle it starts to seal off the blood supply which feeds the hair, consequently the hair cannot grow as well if it’s food supply is diminished. As we cannot see below the skins surface, it’s difficult, but we do know that the treatment is done correctly each time if the treated hair just gently glides out of the follicle when lifted with the tweezers. No plucking action is required.
As the blood supply cannot be completely sealed in one treatment, it is necessary to do the treatment again and again in the following months until the hair stops growing, but each time it does regrow, it will be finer, not as dark and much weaker until it finally stops growing altogether.
So during your treatments you will notice that the hairs don’t bother you quite as much as they used to because they are increasingly less noticeable.
We cannot and will not be able to tell you how long it will take for the hair to stop growing. This is dependent on many factors such as the thickness and type of hair, whether it has been plucked, creamed or shaved. Also hormones play a great part in hair growth and this is always a consideration.
In a nutshell, electrolysis does work, you will need to be patient, but you will see results, we promise. We are Fully Qualified Electrologists with many years of experience upon which you can rely.
